A man has died after an Audi he was driving smashed into a tree before catching fire in Stockport.
The fatal crash happened in the early hours of this morning (Friday) on Dean Moor Road in Hazel Grove.
Police were responding to an incident in the area when they came across the crash at 2.20am, a spokesman for GMP said.
An investigation was launched and officers established that the white Audi crashed into a tree, causing the vehicle to catch fire.
The driver was rushed to hospital.
He died a few hours later.
No arrests have been made.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash.
Sgt Matthew Picton, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was a tragic incident which has sadly resulted in a man losing his life.
"An investigation is underway and I would ask anyone with information to contact us.”
