Man died in 'brutal attack' at Perth home, police say

A 42-year-old father was killed during a "brutal attack" at his home in the northern Perth suburb of Girrawheen, detectives have said.

The body of Alan George Taylor was found at the home on Arnos Way about 4:45am on April 22.

Mr Taylor, a fly-in, fly-out boilermaker by trade, had been living at the property with his former partner, their three-year-old son and what police have called "some other people".

His death is being treated as a suspected homicide by the Major Crime Squad.

"Alan received significant injuries which indicate a high level of violence caused his death," Detective Sergeant Dean Lampard said.

"It was a brutal attack."

Officers have completed an assessment of the crime scene, including an extensive forensic investigation.

Detective Sergeant Lampard would not say how long Mr Taylor may have been dead before he was found.

He also declined to reveal how many other people were in the house at the time, or the nature of the attack and his injuries, although police said a weapon used in the attack was yet to be located.

Detective Sergeant Lampard said Mr Taylor's family was traumatised.

"They are devastated, absolutely devastated," he said.

Police have appealed for help to piece together the circumstances which led to Mr Taylor's death.

Anyone who may have known him or noticed anything unusual has been urged to come forward.
