KOLHAPUR: For the first time in the past 10 years, the Kolhapur police have detained a criminal on record under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities (MPDA) Act.
Saurabh Shivaji Dhole has nine criminal cases against him, ranging from damage to private properties, sexual assault, theft, using weapons to cause injury and extorting money. He was operating since 2018 in and around Ichalkaranji town. Police, after due process of scrutiny, categorised him as a person dangerous to the well-being of society.
A proposal was sent to district collector Rahul Rekhawar to invoke the MPDA act. Accordingly, Dhole has been detained and kept in Kalamba jail till further orders.
