Man detained after armed police respond to incident on residential street

Armed police descended on a residential street following an incident in Pontypridd. The alarm was raised to police at approximately 10.25am on Thursday, June 9, at Cefn Lane, Glyncoch.

South Wales Police confirmed a man was detained "for his own safety" following the incident that saw the road closed in both directions for approximately two hours. There were no injuries reported from the incident.

Local Policing Inspector Leigh Parfitt said: “I can confirm there was an incident involving one man at an address in Cefn Lane, Glyncoch at approximately 10.25am this morning. Nobody was injured during the incident and the man was detained for his own safety shortly after officers arrived. Armed officers were deployed only as a precautionary measure.”
