Man designs prints to raise cash for coronavirus patients at St John's Hospital

A man from West Lothian is raising funds to help coronavirus patients at a West Lothian hospital.

Artist Daniel Rolfe, from Livingston, has designed prints and stickers for people to display on their windows supporting the NHS.

All funds raised will go to assisting patients at St John’s Hospital who cannot get vital supplies delivered to them by their families.

Covid-19 patients are not allowed visitors due to the risk of spreading the virus and therefore they have no access to essentials so Daniel wants to fill this void and get these items to them.

His father works as a doctor at St John’s Hospital and is attending to people suffering from Covid-19 on a daily basis. After chatting to him about the crisis Daniel decided to take action.

He said: “My mum and dad both work for the NHS and have been telling me stories about people being unable to get supplies because their families cannot bring them in anything, and I got this idea to try and do something.

“The patients are already suffering enough without being denied things like toiletries and pyjamas, and it is also putting an extra burden onto the NHS staff, so I just wanted to contribute to the cause and do my own wee bit.”

The print of Daniel’s design is available at a cost of £5 but for £10 people can get the print and a sticker version too. Any donation under £5 will receive a digital photo to print themselves.

Daniel is hoping to raise £1000 and in the first day the fundraiser reached almost a third of this tally but he is now urging more people to help him get to his targeted amount.

Once donations have been processed Daniel will arrange delivery to the recipients homes. For more details on arranging delivery: https://www.gofundme.com/f/j5b3z-support-the-nhs
