Eyewitnesses in Armley have reported that on Saturday afternoon close to the main row of shops on Town Street.
Police officers were sent to Branch Road, Armley, on Saturday afternoon and put up a cordon, blocking the road off to traffic throughout the evening.
Forensic officers arrived shortly afterwards to conduct their investigations.
Although West Yorkshire Police are yet to confirm the details of the incident, people in the area and on social media have said that a man suffered stab wounds outside a barbers shop.
Aaron Rooney, 26, lives nearby and described to LeedsLive what he heard after his girlfriend saw reports on Facebook.
"One of the guys got stabbed behind the ear outside the hairdressers," he said.
"I just live on the other side of the park. It's proper bad. Loads of times we've seen it close to our home.
"There was one near the taxis - someone got stabbed there a couple of weeks ago."
