A man has denied using a machete and pair of scissors to threaten on Church Street in the city on July 24.

Lee Goodwin, 40, used a pair of crutches to get into the dock at Nottingham Magistrates' Court.

He was remanded in custody and ordered to appear at Nottingham Crown Court on August 27.

Bill Soughton, defending, represented Goodwin whose address was given in court as Poyser Close, Basford.

Goodwin is also charged with two counts of taking cars without consent; driving while disqualified and without insurance; causing £1,000 damage to a car bonnet.
