Man denies murdering teenage girlfriend

A man will face trial charged with murdering his 18-year-old girlfriend in the NSW Hunter region. (AAP)

A man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his 18-year-old girlfriend whose body was found at a home in the NSW Hunter region.

Jordan Brodie Miller, who was 20 at the time, is charged with murdering Emerald Wardle at Metford on June 20, 2020.

He was arraigned in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday where he denied the charge, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter on the basis of substantial impairment due to an abnormality of the mind.

The Crown rejected the plea to the less serious charge.

Justice Robert Allan Hulme listed the trial, estimated to run for four weeks, to start on May 16 at Newcastle.
