A man accused of murdering Melbourne siblings more than 30 years ago will go to trial.

Glen William Nash is accused of killing Doris McCartney and her brother Ronald Swann between October 21 and 22, 1989.

The bodies of Ms McCartney, 71, and Mr Swann, 69, were found in the Moorabbin home they shared.

Nash faced Melbourne Magistrates Court by videolink from prison on Wednesday.

He has elected to go straight to trial in Victoria's Supreme Court, avoiding preliminary hearings.

Nash has pleaded not guilty to two charges of murder.
