A man charged with manslaughter over his mother's death has been denied bail in a Brisbane court.

Cristian Dino Charles Lawlor, 22, was charged last night and appeared in a Brisbane magistrate's court today.

Speaking outside court, his lawyer Nick Dore said Mr Lawlor is very upset.

"Given his mother's deceased, he's going through the grieving process like anybody else," Mr Dore said.

Lawlor's 53-year-old mother was found, collapsed in her Taigum home on Saturday.

Despite the attempts of paramedics she was declared dead at the scene.

Police initially thought her death was non-suspicious but later revealed they were investigating it.

Mr Lawlor's lawyer applied for bail on his behalf but it was refused.

The matter is due back in court on June 21.
