Man demands girlfriend stop breastfeeding their baby because it 'makes him feel weird'

A woman says her boyfriend has demanded she stop breastfeeding their baby because it makes him feel weird.

The woman said she is exclusively breastfeeding the couple's six-month-old daughter but her partner has asked that she stop because it 'weirded' him out.

Posting anonymously on Reddit, the 18-year-old mum said her daughter is not interested in solid foods and says she will not introduce formula when the child is enjoying being breastfed.

The mum says her boyfriend, who is also 18, is 'clueless' about women's bodies and she says she has told him she will breastfeed until the baby wants to stop.

She said: "Yesterday, he came upstairs at bedtime when I was feeding baby and said, 'I think she's getting a bit too old for that, it might be time for formula and real food'.

"This kind of upset me because I know the average age to stop breastfeeding around the world is between two-and-a-half and seven years, and he's constantly making stupid remarks."

She then replied to him, saying: "You don't get to decide how old is too old until you carry her around for nine months, push her out and then have her attached to your t*t every day. F**k right off," reports Kidspot.

Following the row the boyfriend went to stay with a friend, and the mum sought advice from her own pals who told her that he also had a right to have a say in how his baby is fed.

Astonished the young mum took to Reddit to ask whether she's in the wrong, and the subject has divided opinions.

One person said: "I was with you right up until you described the way you handled the situation. You are 100% right in your reasoning and totally wrong in your execution.

"Nothing good comes from talking to each other like that. You decide how long to breastfeed. He can have an opinion about it, but the ultimate choice is yours."

Another person added: "Whether or not your BF gave birth to the baby, he's still the father and should have a voice in certain aspects of her life.

"That doesn't mean he's right about this, but saying things like 'f*** right off' when he gives a wrong opinion about his daughter is not ideal."

Whilst someone else asked: "Why does she have to sit down like an adult and explain things to someone behaving like a child?"

"Breastfeeding till 18 months is a great goal and I applaud you for it; hold your ground on this one," said another.

And one person said: "The WHO recommends breastfeeding for up to two years. His 'opinion' is outdated, immature and anger-inducing!"
