Oct. 20--A 20-year-old man was shot to death in the South Austin neighborhood, and shootings elsewhere on the South and West sides left three others wounded, police said.
Terontay D. Atkinson, of the 2100 block of South Christiana Avenue, died in the South Austin shooting, which happened about 9:25 p.m. He had been shot in a gas station on the southwest corner of Jackson Boulevard and Cicero Avenue, police said. No one is in custody.
The most recent shooting left a 24-year-old man in stable condition at Stroger Hospital. He had been shot in the 300 block of South Western Avenue, on the west side of the street about 11:55 p.m., police said. He was sitting in a parked car when shot.
A 26-year-old man was shot in the Gage Park neighborhood about 10 p.m., police said. He was in the 3400 block of West 53rd Place when someone fired at him from the mouth of an alley. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the right shoulder, police said.
At about 6:10 p.m., someone shot a 19-year-old man in the left calf in the West Englewood neighborhood. He was in the 5700 block of South Winchester Avenue when someone known to the 19-year-old fired at him, police said. The shooting stemmed from an earlier altercation, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in stable condition.
