Man dead and firefighter injured after horror blaze at Dublin home

A man has died and a firefighter has been injured following a house fire in North Dublin this afternoon.

Several units of Dublin Fire Brigade raced to the scene on Belgrove Road in Clontarf shortly after 12:30pm.

Brave crews battled to quickly bring the "well-developed" fire under control - according to Dublin Live.

The man, who was in his 60s, was then discovered and pronounced dead at the scene.

A firefighter suffered a soft tissue injury but is expected to make a full recovery.

A DFB spokeswoman said: "Dublin Fire Brigade received a 112/999 call at 12.31 reporting a domestic house fire in the Clontarf area.

"A number of fire appliances, senior officer and an ambulance were mobilised to the incident. First crew arrived within 10 mins of being ordered to discover a well-developed fire.

"Firefighters wearing Breathing Apparatus fought the fire which was quickly brought under control. Unfortunately a person was discovered in the home and subsequently has passed away."
