A man has died after he was hit by a truck on a national road this afternoon.
The collision between a truck and pedestrian happened at around 3pm today on the N25 at Glenmore in Co Kilkenny.
The man, in his late 30s, was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A post mortem examination is due to take place at a later date.
The main N25 between the Rhu Glenn, outside Waterford, to New Ross has been closed. Local diversions have been put in place.
A Garda forensic team is on the scene.
Gardai are investigating the crash and officers at Thomastown are appealing for any witnesses, particularly any motorists who were travelling in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage, to come forward.
