A man has died after a suspected stabbing in Dublin city centre.
The shocking incident happened in the Lombard Street area at around 11am.
The deceased, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to St James' Hospital after being found injured at the Markievicz House flat complex. He was later pronounced dead.
An extensive garda investigation is now underway, with officers saying the are looking at "all circumstances" surrounding the death.
A spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances of the death of a man in his 50s, following an incident at Markievicz House.
"Gardaí responded to reports of an incident at Markievicz House, Dublin 2 at approximately 11am this morning Monday 29th March 2021.
"A male in his 50s was brought to St James Hospital and was later pronounced dead. A post mortem is due to take place, the results of which will determine the course of the investigation.
"The scene continues to be preserved and examinations are ongoing by the Garda Technical Bureau and Divisional Scenes of Crime personnel."
