A young man has died after a suspected dog attack at a rural home, as police begin an investigation.
Authorities were alerted to the discovery of the 23-year-old's body on a rural property near Sydney's southwest on Wednesday.
Police found the body with what they described as significant injuries and established a crime scene.
"Initial inquiries indicate the man may have been attacked by animals prior to his death," police said in a statement.
About eight dogs lived at the Eschol Park property, according to Sydney radio 2GB.
None of those animals were registered or microchipped, it was reported.
Campbelltown City detectives launched an investigation into the man's death.
Their inquiries remain ongoing and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
