Man arrested over fatal Sydney stabbing

A 55-year-old man has been stabbed to death in suburban Sydney. (AAP)

A man has been arrested after a fatal stabbing in Sydney's inner-west.

A 55-year-old man was stabbed in the upper body at Marrickville just after midday on Friday and died at the scene, police say.

A police operation ensued across Marrickville Road in Marrickville and a property on Denison Road in Dulwich Hill. A 62-year-old man was arrested at the Dulwich Hill site.

He has been taken to hospital under police guard and is yet to be charged.
