Man dead 'after coat became stuck in train doors' on Paris Metro

A man has died on the Paris Metro after his coat became caught in the doors of a carriage and he was dragged along the platform, it has been reported.

Le Parisien reports that the 24-year-old man was getting off at a stop in the city’s 15th arrondissement at around 11pm on Wednesday evening when the doors caught on the back of his coat. 

He was reportedly was unable to get free and was subsequently dragged the length of the platform, in front of horrified commuters.

Emergency medical staff were called but were unable to revive the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Parisian transport authority RATP said that police were investigating “the circumstances of the accident.”
