Man dead after car collides with horse on south coast

A 72-year-old man died after the after the car he was travelling in collided with a horse on the South Coast on Friday night.

NSW police said emergency services were called to the Princes Highway, near Moruya about 7.45pm.

"It's believed a Toyota Rav 4 was travelling north when a horse ran onto the road and was hit by the car," they said in a statement.

"The Toyota's passenger, a 72-year-old man, was unable to be revived and died at the scene. The driver, a 67-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation."

The horse was also killed.

A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
