Man dead after being found injured in Glasgow flat as locals describe 'scary' scenes

A man has died and another has been arrested as cops launch a probe after an incident in a Glasgow flat.

Officers were called to Summertown Path in the Govan area of the city at around 12.30am.

A 33-year-old man was found injured within a property in the scheme and was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he later died.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Forensic police were spotted at the scene and a huge area was cordoned off from the early morning.

Locals on the scene said they had heard about the man's death earlier- while another said cops had been examining a white car.

A police spokeswoman:“Around 12.30am on Monday, 31 August, police were called to a report of a man injured within a flat on Summertown Path, Govan, Glasgow. 

"The 33 year-old man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

“A 21 year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident.  

“Police enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information should contact Helen Street Police Station through 101 quoting reference number 0081 of 31 August. 

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”

Locals on the scene described waking up to the huge police presence.

One man said: "I just got up and saw all the police cars and vans with the area taped off."

A woman on the street said: “I woke up this morning and took the dog out at around 9am.

"The place was totally sealed off and there were police everywhere. It is scary.

"This is a good area and there is never really any trouble around here."

Another man said “I saw some police examining a white car in the morning in the car park.

"Apparently someone is dead. There were lots of them this morning."
