Man cut from car and taken to hospital after vehicle he was in smashed into building and parked cars

A man was cut free from a car and taken to hospital after a vehicle he was in smashed into a building and parked cars.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Hollins Road, in Oldham, at around 2.30am on Tuesday morning (June 16).

A car collided with a building and nearby parked vehicles, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue  said.

A man in his 20s - who was in the moving car - had to be cut free from the vehicle.

He was then taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Pictures taken at the scene show a number of damaged vehicles and a boarded-up wall on a building.

An eyewitness said this morning that 'at least two cars' looked to be 'completely written-off'.

Hollins Road was closed off by police for several hours and a cordon was in place.

The road was reopened at around 9.30am, TfGM confirmed.

A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "At just after 2.30am on Tuesday 16 June fire engines from Hollins and Oldham stations and a specialist appliance from Ashton were called to reports of a road traffic accident on Hollins Road in Oldham.

“Upon arrival crews established that the incident involved a car which had collided with a building and nearby parked vehicles.

"Working quickly using hydraulic tools, crews extricated a man in his 20s from the car - he was later transferred to hospital via ambulance.

"GMFRS was at the scene for around two hours.”
