A 58-year-old man from Romeoville died after being hit by a car on southbound I-55 Monday evening near Woodridge, according to Illinois State Police.

State police identified the man as Renold Bean. In a statement released Tuesday, they said he was crossing from one side of southbound I-55 to the other when he was struck by a silver Chevrolet around 5:20 p.m near Milepost 269. He was taken to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the silver Chevrolet, a Plainfield man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
