A 40-year-old man died after he was shot in a drive-by in Little Village on the Southwest Side.

About 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 26, Javier Moreno Jr. was standing in an alley in the 3000 block of South St. Louis Avenue when someone inside a Chevrolet Majestic fired shots at him, Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

He was struck once in the head and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he died two days later, authorities said.

An autopsy conducted Friday confirmed he died of his gunshot wound, the medical examiner’s office said. His death has been ruled a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
