MINNEAPOLIS _ A Minneapolis police officer shot a man in an interview room at the Police Department Monday evening, a source told the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The source said the man sneaked some kind of weapon into the room where he was being interviewed. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, according to Police Clips, which monitors police radio traffic. He is in critical condition, said a source in law enforcement.
An officer called out that shots were fired around 5 p.m. in Room 108, which houses the investigative unit of the Police Department.
It's not known how the man got a weapon into the interview room. One source said the man may have slashed his own neck during the confrontation.
Police are investigating, as is the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The Hennepin County Crime Lab was at the scene Monday night.
