Two injured in stabbing outside Darwin nightclub

Two people were left in hospital following the stabbing outside the nightclub.

One man is in police custody and two others are recovering after a stabbing outside a Darwin nightclub in the early hours of this morning.

Northern Territory Police blocked off the area surrounding The Lost Arc — part of Discovery nightclub — on Mitchell Street in the city's CBD before reopening it later in the day.

Police said the aggravated assault happened about 4:00am, and one of the victims, who the ABC believes is a bouncer at the venue, was taken to the Royal Darwin Hospital in a critical condition.

He later stabilised, while the other victim — a patron who went to assist — was also confirmed to be in a stable condition at the hospital after being stabbed in the leg.

Forensic investigators and police were at the site, between Briggs and McLachlan streets, for several hours.

Northern Territory Police have a man in custody while the investigation continues.

The Lost Arc later posted on its Facebook page that due to the events it would be closed on Monday night.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with our valued staff member and his family at this difficult time," the post read.
