A 44-year-old man was critically injured Sunday when he crashed his vehicle in Goose Island on the North Side.

He was driving an Audi northbound about 9:55 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Halsted Street, Chicago police said. He was traveling at a “high rate of speed” when he lost control of it and struck a light pole and the side of a commercial building.

Several electrical wires fell on the vehicle as a result of the crash, police said. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

No other injuries were reported, police said.
