The man was traveling in a vehicle about 5 p.m. on Interstate 55 near Kedzie Avenue when someone fired shots, according to Illinois State Police and Chicago Fire officials.

He pulled over near the exit ramp at Pulaski Road and was taken to Mount Sinai in critical condition, fire officials said.

Details on the shooting were not immediately available, state police said.

All southbound lanes were shut down about 6:30 p.m. for the investigation, state police said.
