Man critically hurt after emergency services called to 'casualty on train tracks'

A man is fighting for his life after emergency services were called to a 'casualty on train tracks' at a railway station in Trafford.

Police and paramedics were called to the incident at Hale station at around 10.20am yesterday (Monday).

A man was taken to hospital from the scene.

He remains there in a critical condition today, a spokesperson for British Transport Police has confirmed.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The train line between Altrincham and Northwich was blocked for some time after the incident yesterday.

This affected services between Manchester Piccadilly and Chester in both directions, according to the National Rail website.

Victoria Road, which is next to Hale railway station, was also closed off by emergency services.

According to traffic alert service Inrix, the road was shut between Hale Road and Broomfield Lane.

In a statement yesterday, a BTP spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Hale station at 10.20am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a man has been taken to hospital.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious."
