Man critical in hospital after single-vehicle crash in Caerphilly

Police are appealing for information after a crash in Pontllanfraith, Caerphilly, saw a man rushed to hospital for treatment.

Details of the collision are not yet known, but it's understood a black Vauxhall Corsa was in a single-vehicle crash in Llanarth Road in the village at around 3.10am on Thursday, October 21.

Officers have confirmed a man in his 30s was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff for treatment. It's understood the man is still in hospital, in a "critical but stable" condition. For more news from University Hospital of Wales, visit this page of our website

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or has any CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log reference number 2100 369 162.

The full statement from Gwent Police says: "We are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision in Pontllanfraith.

"A black Vauxhall Corsa was in a single-vehicle collision in Llanarth Road at around 3.10am on Thursday, October 21. A man in his 30s was taken to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, for treatment. He is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

"Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has any CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time is asked to get in contact with us. To report information, you can call us on 101 quoting log reference 2100 369 162, or you can send us a direct message on Facebook or Twitter. Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
