Man critical in hospital after serious incident in Renfrewshire flat

A man aged 33 is in a critical condition in hospital after being found seriously hurt in a Johnstone flat.

Police in Renfrewshire are appealing for information after he was found in the property in MacDowell Street around 1.40pm yesterday (Sunday).

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment to serious injuries. His condition is described as critical but stable.

A 36-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Inspector Ian Ross said: "We are continuing with enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident and residents may continue to see a police presence in this area.

"We would urge anyone with information about this incident who has not yet spoken to police to get in touch as soon as possible.

"We are also carrying out enquiries into an incident in the Caldwell Avenue area of Linwood around 11am on Sunday which may be connected to this incident in Johnstone.

"Anyone with information can call 101, quoting incident 1799 of 13 September, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
