Man critical after shooting in Park Forest apartment building

A man was critically wounded in a shooting Sunday in south suburban Park Forest.

The 23-year-old was in a common area of an apartment building about 9:20 p.m. in the 100 block of East Sycamore Drive when someone fired several shots, Park Forest police said in a statement.

Police believe he was targeted.

Paramedics took the man to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, police said. Illinois State Police were assisting in the crime scene investigation.

Anyone with tips was asked to call Park Forest police investigators at 708-748-1309.
