A man is in a critical condition in hospital this morning following a serious assault last night.
Gardai were called to an incident in the Killinarden Estate in Tallaght, Dublin shortly after 11pm on Saturday, August 24.
A 34-year-old man was discovered with serious head injuries at the scene by a passerby, who initially raised the alarm.
The injured man was taken by gardai to Tallaght Hospital, where his condition is currently understood to be critical.
The scene has been preserved for examination and gardai are appealing for witnesses.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Investigations are ongoing and further updates will follow."
