Man critical after freak workplace accident involving paint bucket near Donoughmore, Co Cork

A man is in a critical condition after a freak workplace accident involving a bucket of paint.

Emergency services rushed to Donoughmore at around 8.30am on Monday after the man was hit when the bucket seemingly exploded while he was working.

The man, 40s, was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is now described as critical, CorkBeo reports.

A garda spokesman confirmed the they attended and said it happened in the Ballygirriha area of the parish.

He said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a workplace accident in the Ballygirriha area, Donoughmore, Cork on the 22nd June 2020 at approximately 8:30am.

"A male, 40s, received serious injuries. He was taken to Cork University Hospital where he is described as being in a critical condition.

"The Health and Safety Authority have been notified."

The HSA also confirmed the incident and said an investigation has since been launched.
