Man 'critical after falling from a window' in Newcastle's West End

A man is fighting for his life after police believe he fell from the first-floor window of a property in Newcastle's West End.

Neighbours say a police cordon was up for several hours outside an address in Condercum Road in Benwell as officers launched an investigation.

Northumbria Police says the man is currently in a "critical but stable" condition.

A force spokesperson added: "At 11.36am on Monday (April 27) we were informed that a man had been taken to hospital overnight with a serious head injury sustained at an address on Condercum Road in Newcastle.

"A police investigation was launched to establish how he sustained the injuries and a cordon was put in place on Condercum Road.

"Enquiries have since led officers to believe that the man has fallen from a first-floor window.

"He is currently in a critical but stable condition in hospital.

"Enquiries into the incident are ongoing but officers do not believe there has been any third party involvement.”
