Man crept into sleeping Scots woman's flat and exposed himself sparking police probe

A major police investigation has been launched after a man crept into a woman’s Glasgow flat in the middle of the night before exposing himself. The shocking incident took place at around 3am on Tuesday, August 9, at a property in the Elizabeth Street area of Govan.

The woman woke up to find the male stranger in her home but managed to scare him away by shouting at him. Police say he then fled from the scene via the communal stair area and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen him.

He is described as being white, in his early 20s, of a slim build, with short brown hair and stood at around 5ft 7in tall. He spoke with a Scottish accent and was wearing dark coloured jogging bottoms with a similar colour top.

Detective Sergeant Larry Dempsey, of Govan CID, said: “This was an upsetting experience and fortunately the woman was not injured.

“The man left via the communal stair area and I am appealing to anyone who may have seen him to get in touch.

“If you saw this man acting suspiciously in the area, or have private CCTV that could assist with our investigation, then please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 0379 of Tuesday, 9 August, 2022, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
