Man crashes car after fleeing police following disturbance in North Glasgow

A 24-year-old driver was taken to hospital after a one-car crash in North Glasgow.

The drama unfolded on Balmore Road around 7pm on Sunday night, and sparked an overnight closure of the road between Lambhill Cemetery and the roundabout at Dobbies Garden Centre.

Police were called to the scene following a report of a disturbance involving two men.

One of the men drove off in their vehicle, which then crashed approximately two miles from the initial location.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 7.10pm on Sunday, April 3 police attended Balmore Road, Maryhill, following a report of a disturbance involving two men. As officers attended, one man got into a car and drove off.

"Shortly thereafter, police located the vehicle which had crashed approximately two miles from the initial location. The 24-year-old male driver was taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing."
