Man convicted of threatening to murder ex-partner's dad and family avoids jail

A man escaped a prison sentence despite being convicted of threatening to murder a man and his family.

Allan West stood trial at Hamilton Sheriff Court and was found guilty of an amended charge against him.

On March 11, at an address in Hill Place, Wishaw, Overdale Place and elsewhere, West repeatedly made calls to his ex-partner and threatened her, her family and her infant daughter.

West was also found guilty of contacting his former partner’s dad by text and voicemail.

During the texts and voicemails, 33-year-old West made grossly offensive remarks before threatening to kill himself as well as repeatedly threatening to murder him and threatening to murder his family.

Following the trial, West was cleared of making grossly offensive remarks to his former partner and threatening to murder her.

West, of Ballantry Road, Glasgow, avoided a jail term but was given a two year non-harrassment order by Sheriff Ray Small.
