Man convicted of raping three sisters over 11 years jailed

A man convicted of raping three sisters over an 11-year period in Glasgow was yesterday jailed for 10 years.

Matus Ferko, 44, was told by judge Lady Rae: “You are a callous and calculating individual who subjected your victims to high levels of sexual abuse to met your own deviant sexuality.

“This was a catalogue to appalling offending committed against three children. The impact of this on these young women was obvious.

“You denied and continue to deny any offending. There was no empathy or remorse expressed when you gave your evidence.”

“The damage you have done to these young women is immeasurable.”

Lady Rae ordered Ferko, from Slovakia, to be monitored in the community for three years after his release and added: “This is to protect the public, particularly children.”

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Ferko carried out the offences between November 2004 and April 2015 at various addresses in Glasgow.

Two of Ferko's victims were eight when he raped them and the third girl was 13.

He raped one of the eight-year-olds once, but he repeatedly raped his other victims.

He used violence seizing hold of his victims and tying one girl's hands with rope and putting his hand over the mouth of another.

Throughout his trial Ferko denied the charges against him and claimed that all three victims were making it up.

Prosecutor Bill McVicar said: “An arrest warrant was issued in October 2017. The accused had returned to Slovakia and a European arrest warrant was issued in March 2018 and he was taken into custody in Slovakia and extradited on July 2018.”

Ferko was placed on the sex offenders' register for life.

Defence counsel Joseph Barr said: “Mr Ferko brought his family to this country to improve their prospects of a better life and education for that he must be commended.”
