Man continues to fight for life after stolen car lands on garage roof

A man is still fighting for his life after a stolen car ended on top of a garage roof in Wigan.

The blue Ford Fusion became lodged on top of the building on Bickershaw Lane, Platt Bridge, just after 4am on Sunday.

It is believed the car earlier smashed into a number of parked vehicles.

Police said the car involved was reported stolen in Leigh on Saturday.

The driver ran away, while the front seat passenger was left trapped inside the car.

He was rescued from the wreckage before being rushed to hospital.

Detectives said the passenger is still in a life-threatening condition.

A statement released by Greater Manchester Police after the incident read: "The full circumstances surrounding the collision are currently being investigated.

"The driver of the car has fled the scene but the front seat passenger has been taken to Salford Royal hospital in a life-threatening condition.

"Police have been unable to identify the man in hospital and are asking for anyone with information to contact them."
