A Melbourne man has contacted police and been interviewed by investigators in relation to an alleged hit-and-run collision that left a cyclist with serious injuries.

Police allege a 30-year-old cyclist was riding along Brunswick Street in Fitzroy North, in Melbourne's inner north, when he was struck by a car in the early hours of Monday, April 3.

The bike rider was left with life-threatening injuries, police said.

They allege the driver of the car then left the scene.

Victoria Police yesterday released CCTV footage in their search for the driver.

A Coburg man, 30, contacted police on Saturday afternoon after the public appeal for information.

"The driver has been interviewed in relation to the alleged hit-run collision and is expected to be charged on summons," a Victoria Police spokesperson said.
