Man confesses the weird reason he lied to Tesco delivery man about having a son

A Tesco shopper has explained the embarrassing reason he had to pretend he had a son when he got into a conversation with a delivery driver. Twitter user John posted the confession to his feed, explaining his unusual addiction saw him having to invent a child.

Facebook page Comedy JOE has shared the confession after John posted: “I once made up having a son whilst talking to a Tesco delivery driver because I was embarrassed by how many Birds Eye chicken dippers I’d ordered”

Birds Eye were quick to offer John support saying he should 'never be embarrassed about your love of Chicken Dippers'.

Other Facebook users also rushed to offer support.

Laura Lou said: "I sometimes shout 'guys the takeaways here' just after the delivery driver knocks when I'm home alone because I'm embarrassed by the amount of food I've ordered."

Maxine Clare said: "An elderly patient once asked me how long I had to go before the birth of my baby...(it's a food baby). I was so embarrassed and dropped on I just blurted out 'not long'.

Clorstaigh Glas wrote: "I pretended the potato waffles I bought were for my nephew once."

Ashley Ncholas said: "I buy Heinze Peppa Pig Pasta shapes claiming they are for my daughter. She's 16, and they are for me."

Gareth Royal wrote: "There are three sweet shops on my road. Each is convinced I have four kids."

Birds Eye has since conducted its own Instagram poll to reveal 52% of adults still secretly love chicken dippers for their own teatime, a further 27% love fish fingers for their early evening treat, whilst 21% longed for potato waffles as their biggest craving. However, Birds Eye wants to reassure the nation that there is no need to be embarrassed as it officially launched a statement to reassure its fans.

Jim Shearer, Marketing Director at Birds Eye said: “There is no need for Fish Fingers, Dippers and Waffles to be a guilty pleasure once we’ve reached adulthood. In fact, at Birds Eye we have a strict policy against ageism. We want to reassure the nation that none of our products have an age limit and are most definitely not strictly meant to be used for a ‘kids tea’, so it’s safe to ditch the excuses and celebrate your love for Fish Fingers, Dippers and Waffles.”
