Man collapsed and died suddenly at home after playing Xbox with friend

A man died suddenly at home shortly after playing on his Xbox with a friend, an inquest opening has heard.

Simon Lee Shanks was found unresponsive at his home in Glebe Road, in the Loughor area of Swansea, on Monday, October 19.

An inquest into the 43-year-old's death was opened at Swansea Civic Centre on Thursday.

South Wales Police sergeant Steven White said: "On Sunday, October 18, Mr Shanks and his friend had been up all night playing on the Xbox on the sofa.

"His friend went to bed leaving him still playing. His friend got up and went downstairs and discovered him unresponsive on the sofa.

"An ambulance was called and CPR was commenced but life was pronounced extinct at the house."

Acting senior coroner for Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Colin Phillips adjourned the inquest until April 28, 2021.
