Man claims we've been using bin bags wrong – but some spot flaws with his method

A creative thinker has stunned homeowners after revealing an unusual way to use bin bags - but not everyone's convinced.

The social media user reckons he's been using the bags wrong for years, as he says you're supposed to store the entire roll in the bin.

However, his demonstration raised eyebrows as people quickly spotted a potential problem.

In a now-viral post to TikTok, @sidneyraz made his case for the method. "Here's something I didn't know until I was in my 30s. The entire roll of trash bags is supposed to go into the trash can." As he then proved, the trick is easy to use.

Simply pop your roll in the bin, then tear the bag away from the pack when you remove it.

Unfortunately, many were quick to spot an error which could make the suggestion unusable, regardless or not of whether it is correct.

"What if it leaks? Then you'll have to throw everything away," an astute viewer pointed out.

Another agreed: "Nope, bags leak, smell, and rip. This is not a good rule."

"Nope. That just seems far more complicated and also… what about bin juice?" wrote another.

But others defended the creator's approach, as one person claimed: "In Denmark its standard."

A second replied: "I did know that but always have the ick from the thought of it leaking." A third said: "If you worked in any cleaning service that's a common thing."

Elsewhere, viewers took the opportunity to share their own tips and tricks.

One fan wrote: "Wait until you find out trash bags go inside out so their seam is on the inside = stronger."

Another advised: "Did you know you're supposed to put the trash bags inside out because of the seam? It helps the bag not to break at the seams when you pull it out."
