Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be all too aware of Tottenham’s fine record against his side as the two clubs face off today.
Man City dismantled Wolves 4-0 in their opening game of the season, with Erling Haaland scoring twice and Tijjani Reijnders impressing on his competitive debut following his summer move from AC Milan. Meanwhile, Spurs defeated Burnley 3-0 at home.
City emerged victorious the last time these two sides met, edging Tottenham 1-0 in a Premier League clash in February 2025, with Haaland on the scoresheet for the visitors.
However, historically, City have struggled against the north London side, winning just four of their last 12 Premier League encounters, drawing twice and losing six, including a 4-0 home defeat in the same fixture last season.
City have been handed a double injury boost ahead of the game with Guardiola revealing in the pre-match press conference that Phil Foden and Rodri are ready to return after missing the win over Wolves but both are on the bench.
Josko Gvardiol is one of three absentees along with Mateo Kovacic - who is recovering from an Achilles injury - and Spurs-linked winger Savinho.
James Trafford retains his place in between the posts despite Ederson being available for selection after missing the Wolves game.
The Brazilian has since been linked with a move to Galatasaray, while City have been linked with signing the exiled Gianluigi Donnarumma from Paris Saint-Germain.
