Man City XI vs Real Madrid: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League

Manchester City remain without Rodri for their Champions League showdown with Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

Rodri has been struggling with a hamstring injury for much of this season and is still not ready to return.

The midfielder has not been included in the City squad that has travelled to Spain.

Pep Guardiola has been dealt a fresh fitness concern after John Stones suffered a leg injury, but no timeframe has been put on how long the defender will be out.

Guardiola otherwise has a full complement to pick from, aside from Mateo Kovacic as he continues to recover from ankle surgery.

Gianluigi Donnarumma will start in goal, with Matheus Nunes and Nico O’Reilly returning as the full-backs. Stones’ injury made it even easier to predict the centre-back pairing, and duly, Ruben Dias and Josko Gvardiol get the nod.

In midfield, Nico Gonzalez plays once more as the anchor, flanked by Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden.

Foden starred alongside Rayan Cherki last weekend and both return alongside Erling Haaland and Jeremy Doku in the front three.

Man City XI: Donnarumma; Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly, Nico, Bernardo, Foden, Cherki, Doku, Haaland

Subs: Trafford, Bettinelli, Reijnders, Ake, Marmoush, Ait-Nouri, Savinho, Khusanov, Bobb, Lewis

Injured: Stones, Rodri, Kovacic

Time and date: 8pm GMT on Wednesday December 10, 2025

Venue: Santiago Bernabeu
