Man City XI vs Man Utd: Confirmed team news, predicted lineup and latest injuries for Premier League clash

Aleks Zinchenko is back in contention for Manchester City ahead of the derby after returning to training following a knee operation.

The left-back bolsters Pep Guardiola’s defensive options ahead of the visit of Manchester United on Saturday evening.

But the Manchester City manager is without Sergio Aguero, who is still sidelined with a thigh strain. Instead, he will put his faith in Gabriel Jesus, who was outstanding in Tuesday’s 4-1 win against Burnley with two goals.

“We are a good team with Sergio and we try to be a good team without him,” said Guardiola. “With Sergio we score a lot and play incredibly and without him we try to do the same.

“Last year we had no Kevin (De Bruyne) and tried to make a good season - but I prefer to have Kevin. We try without these players.”

Guardiola is backing Jesus to fill the void left by Aguero, telling reporters: “He has to be himself, we need his goals. That’s why we won the last game, we need him and his goals. If he puts this idea in his head he can do it every game.

“All the players, confidence has to be there in the heads. Not because of good or bad performances, winning or losing games, there are some things that are undeniable, the mentality and how strong they are.”

Ilkay Gundogan is also available again after suspension.
