Claudio Bravo will miss out on a Wembley appearance on Saturday when Manchester City take on Arsenal in the FA Cup semi final.
The Chile international has been ruled out with a muscle injury, meaning Ederson will be No1.
Bravo has been largely used as City’s cup goalkeeper and has played in every round of the competition so far this season, as well as the Carabao Cup final in February.
But the 37-year-old, who is due to leave as a free agent at the end of the season, will not be involved on Saturday, Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
“Claudio is a little bit injured,” he said. “He was not on the bench (against Bournemouth). He has a muscular problem and he’s not able to play tomorrow.”
Joao Cancelo is in contention to play after being left out of the midweek squad that held on to beat Bournemouth 2-1.
“He’s been injured,” added Guardiola. “He has had problems in the leg, but now he’s back and he’s been ready to help us.
“It’s been a bit tough (for him this season). He’s had injuries, but his behaviour and his open mindedness and we are happy with him and in the future he is going to help us a lot.”
Guardiola rested a number of key players midweek – leaving Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne, Rodri and Aymeric Laporte out of his starting line up.
They are all expected to return for the game against Arsenal and Guardiola’s former assistant Mikel Arteta.
City beat Arsenal 3-0 in their first game after lockdown, but their manager said: “A semi final is always difficult. I remember last year against Brighton, how difficult it was. How tough before the quarter-final of The Champions League against Tottnenham.
“I expect a tough game. They have something special - team spirit.
“Mikel has created that (looking) from outside. They celebrate, they fight, they are creating something special and they are fighting for something special. It will be difficult.
“It’s one of the elite clubs in English football for the last 20 or 30 years. I’m pretty sure the right person to bring them back is in position.
“When the club support him they have the right man. I’ve a feeling he is creating something unique. If they give him what he needs they’ll be a contender in future years.”
