Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling was delighted to see Phil Foden get on the score sheet against Dinamo Zagreb revealing he wants to play alongside the youngster for the senior England national team.
Opportunities have been limited for Foden this season due to the abundance of talent available to Pep Guardiola, leading to speculation that he may leave the club on loan.
The 19-year-old missed the game against Shakhtar Donetsk through illness but came off the bench to score City 's second goal against Zagreb after Sterling raced clear.
Foden responded to the rumours surrounding his future by kissing the Manchester City badge during his celebration as he ran towards the delighted supporters.
Sterling, who provided the assist for the youngster, revealed his happiness for his teammate, stating he wanted him to feature in the England senior team.
"That's my second assist for Phil now, but I'm buzzing for him," he said.
"He's a player that I want to see in the national team.
"If he keeps working hard, he will definitely be there."
Foden scored a brace for the England U21 during the last international break and revealed he was delighted to see and help the team.
The starlet said: "It's all about enjoying your time on the pitch when you get it, but I was happy to score and help the team - that was the main thing."
When questioned about his lack of playing time, the youngster said patience was needed.
He added: "Of course everyone wants to play.
"Every young kid wants to play.
"But you've just got to keep patient and keep believing in yourself."
