Man City win Carabao Cup Final as Tottenham are undone by Aymeric Laporte goal at Wembley

Manchester City lifted the Carabao Cup for the fourth year in a row as a late Aymeric Laporte goal was enough to see off Ryan Mason’s Tottenham in front of almost 8,000 fans at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

Pep Guardiola’s City dominated the first half but didn’t get the goal to show for it. While Spurs grew into the game after the break, they were undone by a simple set-piece goal as Laporte headed home inside the final 10 minutes.

Man City were good value for their win, though Spurs will rue not opening up in the final 15 minutes with the game hanging in the balance.

Spurs’ wait for silverware goes on, while City have collected the first trophy in a potential treble-winning season as they also chase Premier League and Champions League glory.

The full-time whistle sparked joyous scenes from a City squad who have grown accustomed to success in this competition, while Heung-min Son’s tears told the story for Spurs.
