Man City will face Chelsea in Champions League final

Manchester City will play Chelsea in an all-English Champions League final.

Chelsea booked their spot in the final with a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid on Wednesday night at Stamford Bridge, advancing 3-1 on aggregate.

Yet another exhilarating semi-final saw Timo Werner score the opener after 28 minutes when he headed in the rebound after fellow German Kai Havertz hit the bar.

The London club would dominate the second half but Werner, Havertz and N'golo Kante all missed great chances to put the game to bed, seemingly tempting fate that Madrid would find their way back into the match.

But Mason Mount would seal the win in the closing stages to send Chelsea to their third Champions League final where they will face a City side they defeated at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-finals last month.

City have now learned who they will face in Istanbul after advancing to their first-ever Champions League final on Tuesday night with a perfect performance against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Blues already held a 2-1 advantage following the opening leg comeback in Paris and there would be no repeat of the heartache that has haunted them in the competition in recent years.

On a sleet-covered pitch, City took the lead through Riyad Mahrez who slammed home from close range after Kevin De Bruyne's shot deflected into his path.

The Algerian added a second on the 63rd minute to secure his place in City folklore with a tap in from Phil Foden's pass but it was the defensive aspect of the performance that particularly impressed, especially the imperious Ruben Dias.

Pep Guardiola's side will meet Chelsea on Saturday, May 29 in Istanbul's Ataturk Olympic Stadium.

City will actually face the London club this Saturday in a warm-up for the final in the Premier League and will be crowned champions if they pick up all three points.
